Correction and Retraction

ETERNAL: English Teaching Journal maintains the integrity of the scholarly record. Published articles are not altered silently; any change after publication is made transparently through the notices below, following COPE Retraction Guidelines.

NoticeWhen it is used
ErratumTo correct a significant error introduced by the journal during production (e.g., typesetting, author name, affiliation).
CorrigendumTo correct a significant error made by the authors that affects the publication record or interpretation, but does not invalidate the main findings.
Expression of ConcernIssued when there is inconclusive evidence of misconduct or an investigation is ongoing.
RetractionWhen findings are unreliable (due to misconduct or honest error), or the article involves plagiarism, duplicate publication, unethical research, or infringement of copyright.

Procedure

  1. Requests for correction or retraction may come from the authors, readers, reviewers, or editors, sent to eternalpbi@upgris.ac.id.
  2. The editor investigates and, where relevant, consults the authors and their institution.
  3. Corrections are published as a separate, citable notice linked to the original article; minor errors that do not affect the content are not formally corrected.
  4. Retracted articles remain online, clearly watermarked "RETRACTED", with a retraction notice stating the reason and who initiated the retraction. The DOI metadata in Crossref is updated accordingly.
  5. Article removal is limited to exceptional legal cases (e.g., defamation, legal infringement, or serious risk); in that case the metadata remains with a note explaining the removal.
