Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Bowling Arithmetic play method in developing the cognitive abilities of children aged 5–6 years at TKIT Baitusshalihin Banda Aceh. The research employed a quantitative approach using a Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest–Posttest Design involving 20 children as research participants. The instrument used was a cognitive observation sheet covering indicators such as number recognition, color pattern arrangement, object counting, and simple addition skills. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis through the Paired Sample t-Test. The findings revealed a significant improvement in children’s cognitive abilities after the implementation of the Bowling Arithmetic method. The total pretest score of 241 increased to 313 in the posttest, with an average gain of 3.6 points. The t-test result showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that the Bowling Arithmetic method has a significant effect on enhancing children’s cognitive development. These results imply that interactive and concrete play-based learning media can serve as an effective strategy to support early childhood cognitive development in alignment with the Merdeka Curriculum.
