Implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project: Critical Thinking Dimension for Children Aged 5-6 Years Through Waste Recycling Activities

Improving the quality of early childhood education requires teachers to be able to develop character and critical thinking skills from an early age. The urgency of this research is based on the importance of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, which promotes project-based learning through the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). Since the implementation of P5 in early childhood education is still in its early stages, this research provides empirical contributions regarding its practical implementation in the field. This study aims to describe the implementation of P5 activities in the dimension of critical thinking for 5-6 year old children through a waste recycling project at RA Al-Maskuri Kayen, Pati. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, involving 15 children, 2 teachers, and 1 educational institution. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that recycling-based P5 activities can improve children's ability to ask questions, identify problems, and give reasons for their decisions. Teachers are also beginning to be able to integrate critical thinking concepts through a contextual and participatory approach. This study recommends that teachers take further training to maximize the application of P5 in early childhood education.
