Life Skills Learning: Washing Lunch Boxes as an Effort to Build Responsibility in Early Childhood

This study examines the development of children's sense of responsibility through the activity of washing eating utensils at RA Al-Hidayah UIN Walisongo Semarang, using social-emotional theory. The activity was chosen for its emphasis on independence, discipline, and awareness of obligations, fostering early life skills. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with 20 children aged 5-6 years as subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, which were analyzed thematically with triangulation for validity. The video documentation records the children's lunchbox-washing activity, capturing social interactions, participation, and behavioral changes, providing empirical evidence of the activity's impact on responsibility development. The findings reveal that the activity fosters life skills and gradually instills a sense of responsibility, with the teacher's guidance playing a key role. This research highlights the novelty of combining practical activities with social-emotional approaches in early childhood character development, contributing to understanding how activities promoting personal responsibility can be effective in shaping character from an early age.
